Old Dog, New Tricks

Started out when I was young born with rhythm born with drive

always knew I'd play the drums music within keeps me alive

I'm the drummer who locks it in the pocket and rocks it

while the bass booms out on the beat

guitars wail and scream loud and clear

as the singer brings the crowd to their feet

sitting in the driving seat got the meter got the rhyme

always knew I'd play percussion playing keeps me in my prime

you can teach an old dog new tricks

hey look at me I changed my ways

got my act together

I'm here today and here to stay

and learn new licks manager's slicks

paradiddles record company fiddles

flams and agency scams

styles they come and styles may go

it is what it is I'm still who I am
